About

An independent Shopify academy

StoreDev Hub is an independent Shopify academy. Our mission: make every Shopify update, API, and best practice accessible — for merchants and the developers who build for them.

Why we built this

Shopify ships hundreds of changes a year. Editions, dev changelog updates, dashboard reorganisations, new APIs, deprecated APIs, new app surfaces. For working merchants and developers, just keeping up can be a part-time job.

StoreDev Hub exists to do that part-time job for you. We read everything Shopify ships, then we publish what matters — translated into plain English, paired with code that works, organised by who needs to act.

We started as an internal Notion doc for our own consulting team. The doc kept growing. People kept asking for access. Eventually the obvious thing happened: we made it public, and it became a small academy. That's StoreDev Hub.

What you'll find here

Three tracks: Shopify Updates (what changed and what it means), Developer Help (Liquid, themes, apps, Hydrogen, APIs), and Merchant Solutions (performance, SEO, conversion, ops). Every post belongs to one track and is tagged so you can subscribe to just the stream you care about.

Values

How we publish

Independent

Not affiliated with Shopify Inc. We pick topics readers ask about, not topics that pay us to write about them.

Tested

Every code sample runs in a real dev store before it ships. Every screenshot matches the current admin.

Plain-spoken

No jargon for jargon's sake. If a release note needs translation, we translate it. If it doesn't, we say so.

Free

No paywalls. No "premium" tiers. The whole academy is open to read, forever.

Story

  1. 2024

Started as a notes file for our own team — Shopify Editions came out twice a year and we kept missing important changes.

  2. 2025

Notes became a public site. Friends in the Shopify community started linking to posts. The newsletter was born.

  3. 2026

StoreDev Hub launches as a full academy with three tracks: Updates, Developer Help, and Merchant Solutions.
